Lip filler is the treatment visitors most often want to see photos of before they book, and the one where photos mislead the most. Filtered before and after lip fillers pictures show volume; they do not show the swelling on day two, or the fact that 1cc spread across two lips is a subtle change. This page shows what actually happens, in the order it happens, so you can decide from facts.
At Muse Clinic Myeongdong lip filler is 1cc of Soon soo filler, a Korean hyaluronic acid filler, or 1cc of Juvederm on the premium line. The injection takes about 10 minutes after anesthetic cream. We do not retouch filler afterwards and any amount left in the syringe is discarded, so the whole 1cc goes into your lips or nowhere. Below: shapes, who suits it, the visit, prices, the swelling timeline and the risks.
Before and after lip fillers: what 1cc actually changes
One cc is about a fifth of a teaspoon. Spread across the upper and lower lip it gives definition and a little fullness, not a new mouth. That is why the Korean lip filler look is subtle: the aim is a lip that reads as naturally good rather than done. Where the 1cc goes matters more than how much.
| Shape | Who asks for it | What I do | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Natural Korean lip | Thin or flat lips, wants to look rested, not filled | Define the border, a little central volume, keep the ratio | Very subtle; photos two weeks later show it better than the mirror on day one |
| M-shaped lips | Wants a clear cupid's bow with a soft dip in the centre | Volume at the two peaks and the centre of the lower lip | Needs a lip that already has some bow; on a very flat lip it looks drawn on |
| Russian lips | Wants height and a flat, doll-like profile | Small vertical threads of filler from the border upward, little projection | Swells more, needs a precise hand, not for lips that already project |
| Corner lift | Mouth corners that turn down, a sad resting face | Support the corners; often paired with corner lip Botox | Filler alone lifts a little; the Botox relaxes the muscle pulling down |
| Vertical lip lines | Fine lines above the upper lip that catch lipstick | Fine filler along the border, sometimes a light pass in the lines | Softens, does not erase; too much here makes the upper lip stiff |
Who lip filler is for (and who it is not for)
Our list describes the typical patient as someone with an uneven lip, someone who wants fuller lips with a natural mouth angle, someone concerned about a drooping mouth, or someone concerned about thin lips. Hyaluronic acid filler adds shape and volume where there is not enough; it does not change the muscle around the mouth.
- Thin or flat lips that disappear when you smile
- One side fuller than the other, or an upper lip that is much thinner than the lower
- Mouth corners that turn down at rest, best treated with filler plus corner lip Botox
- Fine vertical lines above the lip that show in lipstick
- Not a match: wanting a doubled lip from 1cc, an active cold sore, or a lip that already projects and needs balance elsewhere
If the real issue is a sad or heavy lower face rather than the lips themselves, filler is the wrong first step. A wide, square lower face is a masseter question, and drooping corners are often the small muscle at the corner of the mouth pulling down, which is what the corner lip Botox on the same treatment line relaxes. I say which at the consultation rather than filling lips that do not need it.
How lip filler works at Muse: the 10-minute visit
A structured consultation with an interpreter comes first. Then the plan is designed and injected one to one by the head doctor. The steps on our list are: a 1-on-1 consultation, anesthetic cream, design, and the injection. The filler is opened in front of you so you can see the genuine product and the measured 1cc before it goes in.
- 01Consultation: I look at your lips relaxed, smiling and in profile, and we agree on the shape.
- 02Anesthetic cream for the lips; the filler also contains an anesthetic.
- 03Design: I mark the border, the peaks of the cupid's bow, and where the volume goes.
- 04The injection, about 10 minutes, in small amounts so both sides stay even.
- 05Ice, a quick check in the mirror, and you can eat 2–3 hours later.

The lip filler line is the Lip Filler (Soon soo) 1cc option. For Juvederm lips, the 1cc option excluding nose, forehead and under eyes applies. Event prices run for a limited period and may change.
Which would I pick? For a first lip filler and a natural Korean shape, Soon soo does the job and leaves room in a trip budget. If you want the border to hold a sculpted line for longer, or you have had filler before and know you like a firmer feel, Juvederm is the line I reach for. Dr. Lim is an advisory doctor for Juvéderm, which is part of why we keep it on the list. The full price list for every treatment is on the treatments page.
Lip filler before and after timeline: swelling, settling, lasting
Lips swell more than any other filler area, and the swelling is what frightens people on day two. Here is the sequence I describe at every consultation. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.
| When | What you notice |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Lips look fuller than the final result already. Numb for 2–3 hours, then tender. Ice helps. |
| Days 1–2 | Peak swelling, sometimes uneven or with small firm spots. Do not judge the shape yet. |
| Days 3–7 | Swelling drops clearly. Small bumps soften. Bruises, if any, fade. |
| Week 2 | The settled result. This is the before-and-after moment, and when a photo is worth taking. |
| Months 6–12 | Shape softens gradually as hyaluronic acid is absorbed. Most people top up around here. |
Side effects and the part clinics skip
Lip filler is routine, but every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, and you should hear them before you agree. Most are about swelling and bruising and settle on their own. One is rare and serious, and the way to avoid it is technique, not luck.
- Swelling and bruising: expected, worst on day 1–2, mostly gone within a week.
- Small lumps or firm spots: usually filler that has not settled yet; most soften by week 2.
- Asymmetry in the first days: often swelling, not placement. Judged at 2 weeks.
- Cold sore reactivation: if you get cold sores, tell me so we can plan around it.
- Vascular occlusion: filler entering a blood vessel, very rare and serious. The reason the doctor injects slowly, in small amounts, and knows lip anatomy.
Why visitors book lip filler at Muse Clinic Myeongdong

Questions people ask
Before you message us
How much is lip filler in Seoul?
At Muse Clinic Myeongdong there are two lip filler lines: 1cc of Soon soo filler, a Korean hyaluronic acid filler, and 1cc of Juvederm, the premium line, which starts from ₩289,000 excl. VAT on the current event list. Both numbers are the same list a Korean patient sees and both exclude 10% VAT. Event prices change, so the treatment page always shows the live figure.
Is Korean lip filler different from Russian lips?
Yes, in the goal. Korean lip filler aims at a natural, softly defined lip that still looks like yours: a clear cupid's bow, a little central fullness, the corners not dragged down. Russian lips use a vertical technique to add height rather than forward projection and give a flatter, doll-like profile. I can do either with 1cc, but I will say honestly which suits your lip and face.
How long does lip filler last?
Lips move constantly, so hyaluronic acid filler breaks down faster there than in the cheeks. Most people see the shape soften over several months and choose to top up somewhere around 6–12 months. How long it lasts depends on the filler chosen and on how quickly your own body absorbs hyaluronic acid, which varies from person to person.
How much do lips swell after filler, and when can I fly?
Lips swell more than any other filler area. Expect the most swelling on day 1–2, sometimes uneven, then a clear drop by day 3–4 and near-final shape at about 2 weeks. Flying the next day is fine for most people; what I ask is that you avoid heat, alcohol and pressure on the lips for the first day and judge the result at 2 weeks, not on the plane.
Does lip filler hurt?
Anesthetic cream is applied before the injection and the filler itself contains an anesthetic, so most people describe pressure and a sting rather than pain. The injection part is about 10 minutes. The lips feel tender and thick for a day or two afterwards, more from the swelling than from the needle.
Can I eat after lip filler?
You can start eating 2–3 hours after the treatment, once the numbing has worn off so you do not bite the inside of your lip. Keep the first meal simple, avoid very hot drinks that day, and skip lipstick and straws until the next morning so nothing presses on the fresh filler. After that, normal life.
Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
