XERF treatment in Korea for a peanut-shaped face: the 3 treatments Dr. Lim suggests
This is for you if
- Your cheekbones stand out, but your temples and the sides of your cheeks look sunken
- From the front, your face looks uneven rather than smooth
- The area beside your cheeks is hollow and starting to droop, blurring your jawline
- You want to know which treatment does what before you book in Seoul
Short answer
Dr. Lim suggests three treatments for a peanut-shaped face: XERF to tighten the sagging area and tidy the face line, Sculptra to fill hollow areas with collagen, and temple filler to smooth the dip beside the cheekbones. Which ones you need, and in what mix, is decided after an examination.
Why a peanut-shaped face happens
A peanut-shaped face is one where the cheekbones are prominent while the temples and the sides of the cheeks are hollow. Dr. Lim explains that from the front this makes the outline look bumpy rather than smooth.
On top of that, the area beside the cheeks often sinks and then droops downward. As it sags, the face line becomes blurred. So there are two problems at once: hollowing and sagging.
How Muse Clinic Myeongdong handles it: XERF, Sculptra and temple filler
Dr. Lim describes three treatments, and says these are the ones often suggested to friends too. First, XERF: by tightening only the side that has drooped, the blurred face line is tidied up. XERF is a monopolar RF treatment that delivers heat from the shallow layers of the skin through to the deeper ones.
Second, Sculptra. If XERF lifts the line, Sculptra is the one that fills the hollow areas. Sculptra builds collagen so sunken spots fill in, and Dr. Lim notes that many people say their face actually looks smaller afterwards.
Third, temple filler. Filling the hollow temples and the sides of the cheeks smooths the face line from the front. Read more in our temple filler guide.
At the clinic, a counselor talks with you first about what you want to change. Then Dr. Lim examines your face in the treatment room and carries out the treatment.
What to expect from XERF treatment in Korea
XERF is done after cleansing. Redness, swelling or mild discomfort can occur but is temporary. For about a week, the clinic advises avoiding heavy drinking, intense exercise and hot baths or saunas, and washing with cool or lukewarm water.
Sculptra works more slowly, because it relies on your own collagen building up over weeks. Temple filler adds volume on the day. Results vary from person to person. For how collagen builders differ from gel fillers, see who Korean PLLA filler suits.
Why Myeongdong Muse for face contouring
You pay from the same price list as Korean patients. Interpreters for English, Japanese and Chinese are on site, so you can point to exactly which area bothers you and be understood.
The clinic is one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5 (Goryeo Daeyeongak Tower 3F, 97 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu) and is open on weekends, Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 15:00.
Planning it around your Seoul trip
Because XERF aftercare means skipping saunas and heavy drinking for about a week, plan it for a part of the trip without a spa day or big night out.
Sculptra keeps developing after you fly home, which suits a short stay. Temple filler is quick, but leave a few days before your flight in case you want a check. Book your consultation early in the trip so there is room to adjust the plan.

Questions people ask
Before you message us
What is a peanut-shaped face?
It describes a face with prominent cheekbones but hollow temples and cheek sides, so the outline looks uneven from the front.
Do I need all three treatments?
Not necessarily. XERF addresses sagging, Sculptra and temple filler address hollowing. Which you need is decided after Dr. Lim examines your face.
Can I go to a sauna after XERF treatment in Korea?
The clinic advises avoiding hot baths, saunas, heavy drinking and intense exercise for about a week after XERF.
Will temple filler make my face look bigger?
The aim is the opposite: filling the dip beside the cheekbones smooths the outline. Dr. Lim also notes that many people say their face looks smaller after hollow areas are filled with Sculptra.
