Thermage is the word visitors use when they mean one thing: skin that has started to slacken along the cheeks, jaw and neck, and a wish to tighten it without a needle or a scalpel. On our list the treatment is called Duet Thermage, a monopolar radiofrequency (RF) lifting for elasticity and neck lines. It heats the collagen layer under the skin so the tissue contracts now and rebuilds over the following months.
At Muse Clinic Myeongdong the Duet Thermage listing starts from ₩790,000 (excl. 10% VAT), the same line a Korean patient sees. Below I explain how monopolar RF works, who it suits, who should choose Ulthera Lifting instead, the honest timeline, and what the 15 to 20 minute session feels like.
What Thermage does to the skin, and what it does not
The result you are paying for is skin that sits closer to the face: firmer cheeks, a cleaner line along the jaw, a neck that looks less crepey. The mechanism is heat. A monopolar handpiece passes RF energy through the skin to a return pad; the tissue resists the current and warms from the inside. Collagen fibres contract as soon as they reach temperature, and over the next two to six months the skin lays down new collagen where it was heated.
What it does not do: it does not move heavy tissue that has already dropped, and it adds no volume. The question does Thermage melt fat comes up at almost every consultation. At treatment settings the energy is aimed at the dermis. Fat softening is a risk only when a thin face is treated aggressively, which is a planning error, not a feature of the device.
- Early laxity along the jawline and under the cheekbones
- Fine lines and crepey texture on the cheeks or neck
- Skin that has lost its elastic bounce after weight change or sun
- Wanting periodic maintenance and getting back to your day straight after
- Not a match: deep jowls, heavy under-chin, or a hollow face that needs volume first
Who suits Duet Thermage, and who suits Ulthera Lifting
Our list describes the Duet Thermage patient as someone who wants an elastic skin texture, who wants skin care on a regular schedule, who wants to improve facial lines and saggy skin, and who wants the effect with as little stimulation to the skin as possible. In practice that is the visitor in their 30s to 50s whose skin is loosening but whose face shape is still in place.
Ulthera Lifting works on a different layer. Focused ultrasound heats small points in the SMAS, the sheet of tissue under the fat that gives the lower face its structure. If your complaint is the jowl, the double chin, or a jaw that has lost its corner, that deeper layer is where the work belongs. If the width of your lower face is muscle, neither device helps; that is a masseter Botox question.
| Treatment | Energy and layer | Feels like | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duet Thermage | Monopolar RF, broad heating of the dermis | Waves of deep warmth, surface cooled | Elasticity, fine lines, neck texture, maintenance |
| Ulthera Lifting | Focused ultrasound to the SMAS | Short sharp heat points | Jowls, under-chin, structural lift |
| ALL TITE | RF to the dermis and SMAS, counted in shots | Brief pinpoint heat, little discomfort | Tightening you notice straight away plus collagen renewal |
| DENSITY | Monopolar and bipolar RF, counted in shots | Gentle heating, cooled tip | Firmness, pores, texture, eye area with the Eye tip |
ALL TITE starts from ₩139,000 and DENSITY from ₩169,000 (both excl. VAT) because they are sold by shot count, with a 100-shot one-time trial size on the list. If you have never had RF before and want to feel what the heat is like before committing to a full face, that small size is how I would start you. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.

How a Thermage session works at Muse: the 15 to 20 minute visit
A structured consultation with an interpreter comes first. Then the plan is made and the treatment performed one to one by the head doctor. The steps on our list are short: a 1-on-1 consultation, a self face wash, the treatment, and sunblock. The RF part itself is 15 to 20 minutes, and you resume your normal day straight after.
- 01Consultation: I pinch and lift the skin on each area, check the fat under the cheek, and mark the zones and the energy I will use.
- 02You wash your face in the powder room; there is no anaesthetic cream step on the list for this treatment.
- 03A treatment grid marks where each pulse goes, so nothing is stacked by accident.
- 04Pulse by pulse over the face or neck. You tell me the heat on a scale and I adjust; the surface is cooled at each pass.
- 05Sunblock, and you walk back out into Myeongdong. Little redness, no dressing.

Thermage cost in Seoul: what is on the list and what changes the number
Three things move the price on our list: the area (face, neck, or both), what is bundled with the session, and whether the line is an event price or the base price. Every number below is the one a Korean patient sees, published in full on the treatments page. Prices exclude 10% VAT, which is added at payment.
- Deep Scar Regerenation Package₩790,000

Prices exclude 10% VAT. Event prices run for a limited period and may change — the treatment page always shows the current list.
If budget decides, I would rather you do a well-placed ALL TITE or DENSITY session than skip tightening altogether. If you want the neck treated as well as the face, say so in your first message; the neck changes the plan and the time, and I will confirm the exact line before you book.
Thermage before and after: the honest timeline
Visitors often fly home a day after the session and see very little. That is normal. The contraction you feel on the day is the smaller part of the result; the collagen that builds over the following months is the larger part. Here is the sequence I describe at every consultation. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.
| When | What you notice |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Skin is pink and warm for a few hours. Some people feel a tightness straight away. Makeup is fine. |
| Days 1–3 | Mild swelling settles. The skin can feel slightly tender to the touch, then normal. |
| Weeks 2–4 | Texture looks smoother in the mirror. Fine lines on the cheek and neck look shallower. |
| Months 2–6 | New collagen builds. The jawline and cheek sit firmer in photos. This is the before-and-after moment. |
| Month 6 onward | The result holds, then the natural loosening slowly continues. Many repeat about once a year. |
Thermage side effects, the eye area, and aftercare
RF tightening is a routine procedure, but every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, and you should hear them before you agree. Common: redness, warmth and mild swelling for a day or two. Less common: a small blister, a tender spot, or a temporary bump where energy was stacked. Rare: tingling along a nerve branch that settles over weeks. Heat sensitivity differs from person to person, so the energy is set for you, not from a fixed chart.
Eye Thermage is a frequent search because crepey lids and under-eye skin bother people early. On our list the RF option for that area is DENSITY Eye, a 300-shot option sold for the eye area. It can tighten loose skin there; it cannot fix hollowing or a fat pad, so I check which one you have before suggesting it.
Why visitors book Thermage at Muse Clinic Myeongdong
Three things we put in writing rather than promise. One price list, identical to the Korean price: there is no foreigner menu, and every option and every number is published on the website. Interpreters in the clinic, in English, Japanese and Chinese, who stay with you from consultation through treatment. The head doctor consults and treats: after the structured consultation the plan is made and performed one to one by Dr. Sarang Lim.
Practical details for a trip: the clinic is a one-minute walk from Myeongdong Station Exit 5, on the 3rd floor of the building with a Twosome Place café at street level, across from the Shinsegae side of Hoehyeon Station. We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:00–15:00, so a weekend session between shopping is realistic, and you go back to your day straight after.

Questions people ask
Before you message us
How much does Thermage cost in Seoul?
At Muse Clinic Myeongdong the Duet Thermage listing starts from ₩790,000, excluding 10% VAT, and it is the same line a Korean patient pays. The two other monopolar RF treatments on our list, ALL TITE from ₩139,000 and DENSITY from ₩169,000, are priced by shot count. Event prices run for a limited period, so the treatment page always shows the current numbers.
Does Thermage melt fat?
It is not designed to. The energy is aimed at the collagen layer of the dermis, and at treatment settings the goal is contraction, not fat removal. The concern comes from thin faces treated with high energy over the cheek, where any softening of the small fat pad shows. That is why I check how much fat is under the cheek before I agree to treat, and lower the plan or change the tool when there is little to spare.
Thermage or Ulthera: which one should I choose?
Pinch the skin on your cheek. If the surface itself is loose, crepey and finely lined, monopolar RF such as Duet Thermage is the tool, because it heats the dermis broadly. If the whole cheek has slid down and the jowl and under-chin are the problem, Ulthera Lifting reaches the deeper SMAS layer with focused ultrasound. Many visitors do both, months apart. I decide at the consultation, not from a photo.
What are the side effects of Thermage?
Common: pink, warm skin for a few hours and mild swelling for a day or two. Uncommon: a small blister, a tender spot, or a temporary bump or unevenness where energy was stacked. Rare: tingling along a nerve that settles over weeks. Results and how long they last vary from person to person, and so does sensitivity to heat, which is why the doctor adjusts energy pulse by pulse.
Can I get Thermage around the eyes?
People search for eye Thermage when the lids and the skin under the eye have gone crepey. On our list the RF option for that area is DENSITY Eye, a 300-shot option for the eye area. Whether the eye area is worth treating depends on whether the problem is loose skin, which RF can tighten, or fat and hollowing, which it cannot. I check this at the consultation.
How long does Thermage last?
Collagen builds over two to six months after the session, and the tightening is then held for a year or more in most people before the natural loosening continues. Many repeat once a year as maintenance. How long it lasts for you depends on your age, skin thickness, sun exposure and how much laxity you started with.
Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
