What fat dissolving injections actually do

The solution is injected into the fat layer, not the skin. It disrupts the membrane of the fat cells in that small area, the contents are released, and the body clears them away over the next weeks. That is why nothing looks different on the day you leave the clinic — the change appears while the area settles.

There is a real difference in strength between the options. A face contour injection uses a smaller, lower-dose volume to slim a line and reduce puffiness. A deoxycholic acid (DCA) injection breaks down the fat cell membrane itself, which is why it is used for submental fat that did not respond to lighter injections or to dieting. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.

Who fat dissolving injections suit — and who they don't

The treatment works on soft tissue you can pinch. Our list describes the typical patient as someone bothered by a double chin, cheek fat or a jawline that has lost its line, or someone with one stubborn pocket that dieting never touches.

• A double chin that shows in photos taken from below or from the side
• Cheek fat or a heavy jawline on an otherwise slim face
• A specific area — forearm, thigh, love handle — that does not change with diet
• Wanting a sharper contour without surgery and with little downtime
• Not a match: width that comes from bone, from the chewing muscle, or from skin that has loosened

GPC is a non-steroidal fat-dissolving injection designed to cause less bruising and less discomfort than a standard lipolysis shot. It breaks fat down directly, helps with puffiness, and works on face and body. The face list is 10cc per session, from ₩29,000 (excl. 10% VAT), with 2- and 3-session sets on the GPC Injection page. I suggest it to people who bruise easily or who have a reason to avoid a steroid-based formula.

VIVLE Lipolysis — DCA for a stubborn double chin

VIVLE contains deoxycholic acid and destroys the fat cell membrane under the chin, so it reaches submental fat that lighter contour injections leave behind. It also encourages collagen, which helps the skin over the treated area stay firm. It starts from ₩159,000 (excl. 10% VAT) for 2cc; sessions sit about four weeks apart and three or more are recommended depending on how much fat there is. Every number below is the same line a Korean patient sees on the list. There is no separate foreigner menu, and the full price list for all treatments is published on the treatments page. Prices exclude 10% VAT.

Four things move the final number: the volume in cc (3cc for a jawline, 10cc for a wider area, 40–80cc on the body), the product tier (Premium or Gold on the ACU list), the number of sessions you book as a set, and whether the injection is bundled with a lifting device — the VIVLE packages pair 2cc with Shurink Universe, Ultherapy or ALL TITE shots in one sitting for the under-chin area.

What the visit looks like

Side effects and the part worth reading twice

This is a needle treatment, so side effects are possible and you should hear them before you agree. Most are local and temporary.

• Bruising or redness at injection points, usually settling within one to two weeks
• Tenderness when you press the area, or a firm feeling as the tissue settles
