Why a face looks wide: fat, muscle, bone or swelling

A wide lower face is not one problem. It is four, and they need different tools. Injecting fat-targeting solution into a bony jaw does nothing, and relaxing a muscle does nothing for a double chin. This is the single most useful thing to sort out before you spend money.

• Fat — soft tissue you can pinch under the chin, at the jaw corner or in the lower cheek. This is what contour injections target.
• Muscle — a firm bulge that rises at the back of the jaw when you clench. That is the masseter, and jaw Botox is the tool.
• Bone — the width of the mandible itself. Injections do not change bone.
• Swelling — a face that is puffy in the morning and settles by afternoon. Circulation, salt and sleep drive this more than fat does.

How Korean 'small face' injections work

The solution is injected directly into the subcutaneous fat, not into muscle or skin. It disrupts the membrane of the fat cells in that small pocket; the contents are then carried away through the lymphatic system and processed by the body over the next weeks. That drainage step is why the change is gradual rather than visible on the day, and why circulation matters as much as the injection itself.

I suggest it when someone says their face is much heavier in the morning, or when there is fat along the jawline plus poor drainage. It is usually repeated at about one-week intervals.

NEW face reduction injection — the V-line package

This is the package for a lower face that is both muscular and soft: jaw Botox plus a tightening injection from ₩70,000 (excl. Three things move the number: volume (3cc for a jawline and chin, 10cc when the cheeks and neck edge are included), grade (Gold or Premium on the ACU line), and whether it is a package that adds jaw Botox and a tightening injection. Slim face timeline: when the V line actually shows

This is where most disappointment comes from. People fly home three days later, see a puffier face than they arrived with, and assume it failed. The swelling is part of the process; the slimming comes after it drains. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.

Side effects and the part I say out loud

This is a needle procedure into the fat layer, so reactions are expected rather than rare. Bruising, swelling and pain are possible depending on your skin, and they generally recover within one to two weeks. None of that makes it a bad treatment — it makes the timing of your trip worth planning.

• Swelling in the first two or three days, sometimes asymmetric as it drains.
• Bruising at one or two injection points; usually coverable with makeup.
• Tenderness when you press the area or lie on it for several days.
• Firmness or small lumps in the fat as it breaks down, which soften over the weeks.
• Not for you if the width is bone, or if the heaviness is loose skin rather than fat — injecting will not show.
