I am Dr. Sarang Lim, head doctor at Muse Clinic Myeongdong, a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Plastic & Laser Medicine and an advisory doctor for Merz, and the question I answer most often at a toxin consultation is whether a visitor should pay for the imported brand or take the local one. So, directly: Allergan Botox is the original global botulinum toxin brand, and on our published list it appears on exactly two lines — salivary gland botox 50U and Allergan Dermotoxin — while every other toxin option on the menu is a Korean-made product or Coretox, the premium Korean toxin.
This page is the comparison I draw on paper in the consultation room: what the two products actually are, where the price gap really sits, and which one I would pick for which face. If you want the wider context first, our korean botox price guide covers what botox in Korea costs across areas, and the full menu with every option is on the treatments page.
What is Korean botox, and what is Allergan Botox?
What is Korean botox? It is botulinum toxin type A manufactured in Korea. The molecule class is the same one used in clinics worldwide: injected into a muscle, it reduces the signal that makes that muscle contract, so the muscle softens and, over weeks, slims. Korea has several domestic manufacturers, which is the main reason a toxin session here costs a fraction of what the same session costs in most home countries.
Allergan Botox is the imported original. It is the brand most patients from the US, UK, Singapore or Australia already know by name, because it is usually the one their clinic at home uses. In Korea it has to be imported, and that import and brand cost is what you see on the price list. The injection technique, the dose logic and the aftercare do not change because of the label on the vial.
Where Coretox sits between the two
Coretox is the option I end up recommending most to people who plan to repeat toxin for years. Our menu describes it as a premium Korean toxin with a low risk of resistance — in practice, a formulation chosen to reduce the chance that the body builds antibodies that blunt the effect of future sessions. It is a Korean product at a Korean price, sitting between the standard domestic line and the Allergan line.

The real price difference on the list
Here is the honest version. Allergan is the top line of each of the two menus that carry it, and the gap over the domestic line is much wider on salivary gland botox than it is on Dermatoxin. Look at the two menus below and you will see the spread yourself — I do not want to paraphrase numbers that run as limited-period events and change.

Prices exclude 10% VAT. Event prices run for a limited period and may change.
Salivary gland and temple botox starts from ₩39,000 (excl. 10% VAT) on the domestic line, and Dermatoxin skin botox from ₩69,000 (excl. 10% VAT). Wrinkle botox starts from ₩29,000 (excl. 10% VAT) per small area. Three things move your final number: which product you choose, how many areas or units you treat, and whether an event bundle is running that week.
If you are comparing botox Korea prices against a quote from home, add the 10% VAT in your head and remember there is no foreigner menu here. The line you pay is the botox Korean patients pay at the same clinic on the same day. That is the whole reason the price list is published rather than quoted in a consultation room.
Is Korean botox good? How I actually choose
Is Korean botox good is the question behind almost every Allergan request, and the fair answer is that the product is rarely what decides your result. Placement, dose and the muscle in front of me decide it. A well-placed domestic injection beats a badly placed imported one every time, which is why our flow is a structured consultation first, then the plan and the injection done one to one by the head doctor.
- I lean Allergan when a patient has used it at home for years and wants to keep one variable fixed.
- I lean Coretox when toxin is a long-term habit and resistance is the real worry.
- I lean the standard domestic line for a first-time patient or a one-off before an event.
- For skin botox I discuss both lines, because the dilution and depth matter more than the brand — see our note on skin botox and Dermatoxin.
- For jaw bulk I treat muscle size, not brand, as the main decision — the detail is in our guide to masseter botox in Seoul.
What the visit looks like, whichever product you pick
The sequence is the same for Allergan and for the Korean lines. Consultation with an interpreter, then one-to-one time with me, then the injection. Wrinkle and jaw areas are chilled with a cold roller first; Dermatoxin uses a numbing cream because it is placed across the surface rather than into one muscle.
- 01One-to-one consultation: I check the muscle while you move or clench, then mark the points.
- 02Cooling (or numbing cream for skin botox).
- 03You see the vial and the measured dose before anything goes in.
- 04The injections — roughly 5–10 minutes for salivary gland or temple, 10–20 minutes for wrinkle areas or Dermatoxin.
- 05Back out into Myeongdong. No dressing, nothing to plan around.
| When | What you notice |
|---|---|
| Day 0 | Tiny bumps at the injection points for an hour or so. Everything else normal. |
| Week 1 | Movement in the treated area starts to feel lighter. Skin botox patients notice a tighter surface feel around here. |
| About 1 month | The effect has settled in; this is when I ask patients to judge it. |
| About 3 months | Peak effect fades as muscle strength returns. We suggest repeating at 3–4 months. |
Results and how long they last vary from person to person. A heavy chewer, a frequent gym-goer and a patient with years of injections behind them will all sit at different points on that table, and no brand of toxin changes that.

Side effects I tell every patient about
Toxin is a routine injection, but every injection carries risk and you should hear it before you agree. The most common complaints are a small bruise, a bump at an injection point for an hour, and a slightly heavy feeling in the treated muscle for the first days. Less common is a temporary droop or asymmetry if toxin spreads to a neighbouring muscle; it settles as the effect wears off.
- Bruising or tenderness at a point: a few days.
- A heavy or unfamiliar feeling in the treated muscle in the first week.
- Temporary asymmetry or a lowered brow if the dose or depth is off — avoided by designing to your anatomy rather than a fixed template.
- Skip the sauna, heavy drinking and pressing on the area for the rest of the day.
- Tell me if you had toxin anywhere in the last few months, so the plan accounts for it.
Why visitors book their botox in Korea with us
Four facts, not promises. One price list, identical to the Korean price, published in full on the treatments page. Interpreters in the clinic in English, Japanese and Chinese, with you from consultation to aftercare. The head doctor consults and injects — the consultation leads straight into one-to-one treatment by me. And genuine product, correct dosage, opened and measured in front of you, which is the first motto at Muse Clinic Myeongdong.
Practical details for a short trip: we are a one-minute walk from Myeongdong Station Exit 5, on the 3rd floor of the Korea Daeyungak Tower with a Twosome Place café downstairs, open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:00–15:00. A toxin appointment fits between two shopping stops, and the weekend slots are why most visitors manage it at all. If you are weighing other areas, our guides to botox before and after by area and mouth corner lift botox are the two people read next.

Questions people ask
Before you message us
Is Allergan Botox better than Korean botox?
Both are botulinum toxin type A, and both relax the muscle they are injected into. What differs is the brand, where it is manufactured, and the price line on the menu. In my consultations the bigger variables are the area, the dose and your injection history, not the label on the vial. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.
How much more does Allergan Botox cost in Seoul?
On our list Allergan sits at the top line of the two menus that carry it: salivary gland botox 50U and Allergan Dermotoxin. The gap over the domestic line is wider on salivary gland botox than on Dermatoxin. All prices exclude 10% VAT and are the same numbers a Korean patient pays, and the treatment pages always show the current list.
Is Korean botox good, and what is Korean botox made of?
Korean botox is botulinum toxin type A manufactured in Korea, the same molecule class used worldwide. Our menu carries a standard domestic line and Coretox, described on the list as a premium Korean toxin with a low risk of resistance. Whichever you choose, the vial is opened and the dose measured in front of you, because genuine product and correct dosage is our first motto.
Can I ask for Allergan Botox for my jaw or forehead?
On our published list, Allergan appears for salivary gland botox 50U and for Dermatoxin skin botox. Wrinkle areas, jaw, cheek and the other menus are listed with the domestic toxin or with Coretox. Message us with the area you care about and your dates, and we will send back exactly which options are listed for it and what each one costs.
Do foreigners pay more for botox in Korea?
Not with us. There is no separate foreigner menu; you pay the same line a Korean patient pays, and the full list with every option is published on the website. Prices exclude 10% VAT, and event prices run for a limited period, so the treatment page is the number to trust on the day you come in.
How long until botox works, and how long does it last?
For wrinkle areas the effect settles in roughly a month and holds for about three months, which is why we suggest repeating every three to four months. Dermatoxin skin botox gives a tighter surface feel within about a week and tends to hold two to three months. Muscle bulk, habits and metabolism all shift these numbers, so individual variation is normal.
Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
