I am Dr. Sarang Lim, Head Doctor at Muse Clinic Myeongdong — a graduate of Inje University College of Medicine, a member of the Korean Academy of Aesthetic Plastic & Laser Medicine, and an advisory doctor for Merz, Jeisys and Olidia. How to get rid of hooded eyes is one of the first questions I hear when a visitor sits down and pulls up a photo of herself from five years ago.

The direct answer: no cream or massage tool removes a hood. What works is tightening the thin skin above and below the eye, rebuilding collagen in the dermis around the brow, and filling the shadow under the lash line. That combination is what an eye lifting treatment is for.

At Muse I use three tools around the eye. Density radiofrequency from ₩169,000 (excl. 10% VAT), Ulthera Lifting from ₩199,000 (excl. 10% VAT), which has a dedicated eye tip, and Olidia Eye from ₩290,000 (excl. 10% VAT) for the hollow under the eye. Below is how I choose between them, what each one actually changes, and what the visit looks like if you are flying in for a few days.

How to get rid of hooded eyes starts with what makes them hooded

The skin on the upper eyelid is the thinnest on the face, so it loses firmness earlier than the cheek. As the brow and the tissue under it settle downward, that loose skin gets pushed onto the lid, and the crease you used to see disappears under a fold. Nothing is wrong; the architecture has shifted by a few millimetres, and a few millimetres is all it takes around the eye.

  • Thin eyelid skin that has lost elasticity, so it drapes instead of holding
  • A brow tail that sits lower than it used to, crowding the lid
  • A naturally low-set brow or a full upper lid you have had since your twenties — anatomy, not laxity
  • A hollow or shadow under the eye that makes the whole socket read as heavy
  • Habitual squinting and sun exposure, which thin the skin further over years

This split matters because it decides what a device can do for you. Laxity responds to heat and collagen stimulation. Anatomy does not. I would rather tell you that before you pay than have you judge the result at week six and feel misled.

The eye lifting treatment options I use for hooded eyes

Density: radiofrequency for the skin around the eye

Density is a non-invasive radiofrequency treatment that works in the dermis to firm skin. The handpiece delivers monopolar and bipolar energy with an impedance feedback system, which compensates for how differently each person's skin resists current, and five levels of cooling keep the surface comfortable while the depth heats. There are eye-specific shot counts on the menu for exactly this area.

When I choose it: crepey, slightly loose skin on the lid and under the brow, often with fine lines and dull texture at the same time. Density helps with sagging and wrinkles and refines texture, tone and pores, so it suits someone who wants the whole eye region to look less tired rather than one line fixed. You can return to daily life straight away, and the recommended interval is one to two sessions a year depending on your skin.

Eye Ultherapy: focused ultrasound, deeper

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to heat a layer under the skin so that it contracts and lays down new collagen over the following weeks. We use genuine Ultherapy tips — the treatment is FDA-cleared in the United States — and you can check the product's originality yourself before we begin. Eye shots are a separate line on the menu and can be added to a face session.

When I choose it: a brow tail that has dropped, with crow's feet and a hood that improves when I lift the brow in the mirror test. The treatment time is under 30 minutes, you finish with a modelling mask and sunblock, and the firming builds quietly. If you want the full picture on shots and sessions, I wrote a longer piece on Ultherapy in Seoul, and a cost breakdown for anyone pricing an eye lifting treatment Korea trip in how much Ultherapy costs in Korea.

Olidia Eye: for the shadow below, not the hood above

Olidia Eye is a PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid) injection that prompts your own collagen to form, which helps with tear troughs, dark circles and lost volume under the eye. It is biodegradable — the material breaks down into water and carbon dioxide and clears naturally — and it uses a PLLA medical device approved by the Korean MFDS. Collagen begins forming from about four to six weeks, so the change arrives gradually rather than looking filled.

When I choose it: the patient says "hooded" but what makes her eyes look closed is the dark groove underneath pulling the whole socket down. Lifting the top does little in that case. Brightening the hollow does a lot.

Side by side: which option suits which hooded eyes

Olidia Eye (PLLA)The hollow and shadow under the eye — not the upper hoodNumbing cream first, then fine injectionsNeedle marks, bruising or swelling are possibleCollagen forms from about 4–6 weeks

Many visitors asking how to get rid of hooded eyes end up pairing one device with the injection: firm the skin above, brighten the hollow below. If your concern runs further down the face than the eye — jowls, a slack jawline — the tools change again, and I compare the two main device families in Thermage vs Ultherapy and cover anchored lifting in PDO thread lifting in Seoul.

Eye lifting treatment Korea: price and what moves the number

Three things change the final figure: how many shots you need, whether an eye tip or eye shot line is added to a face session, and whether the package bundles an extra option such as a tightening injection or glutathione. Every number below is the same line a Korean patient reads. Prices exclude 10% VAT, and event prices run for a limited period.

What the visit looks like, step by step

  1. 01Structured consultation with an interpreter — I check brow position, eyelid skin and the shadow under the eye, and ask what you dislike in photographs.
  2. 02Cleansing: you wash your face at the clinic so nothing sits between the skin and the handpiece.
  3. 03We show you the product, the genuine tips and the dose before anything starts. Genuine products and correct dosage is the clinic's first motto.
  4. 04Treatment, performed one to one by me after the plan is agreed. Ultherapy takes under 30 minutes of treatment time.
  5. 05Modelling mask and sunblock, then straight back out into Myeongdong.
Typical timeline after an energy-based eye lifting treatment
WhenWhat to expect
Day 0Mild redness and warmth around the eye, sometimes slight puffiness. Make-up over sunblock if you need it.
Days 1–3Skin can feel tender to the touch, especially along the brow bone. Nothing other people notice.
Weeks 2–4The lid skin starts to feel less draped. Most people see it in photos before they see it in the mirror.
Months 2–3The collagen response peaks. This is where the hood looks softer and the lid shows more space.
Months 6–12Firmness fades slowly. For Density I usually suggest one to two sessions a year, adjusted to your skin.

Honest limits, possible side effects, and who decides

Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, and the eye region deserves a slower explanation than the cheek. Results and how long they last vary from person to person, and the size of the change depends far more on your starting anatomy than on the device brand.

  • Redness, warmth and short-lived puffiness after RF or ultrasound around the eye
  • Tenderness when you press the brow bone for a day or two
  • With Olidia Eye: needle marks, bruising or swelling, which usually ease with time
  • A hood from a naturally low brow will soften, not disappear — this is the limit I state in writing
  • Judging the result at week one. The collagen work is not finished yet

Most visitors use the same appointment for more than the eyes. If small white bumps sit on the lower lid, read how to get rid of milia under eyes. For raised spots elsewhere on the face, how to remove moles covers the CO2 laser route and healing. And if your real goal is overall clarity rather than one feature, how to get korean glass skin lays out an in-clinic plan. Heavier sagging below the jaw is a different problem again — see botox for jowls and what actually lifts them.

Questions people ask

Before you message us

How to get rid of hooded eyes without surgery?

You work on the three things a device can reach: the thin eyelid skin, the collagen in the dermis around the brow and temple, and the shadow under the eye. At Muse that means Density radiofrequency, Ultherapy with its eye tip, or Olidia Eye for the hollow below the lash line. The hood looks softer and the lid shows more space. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.

Does eye Ultherapy work on hooded eyes?

It works on laxity, not on anatomy. Focused ultrasound heats a layer under the skin so it contracts, which can lift the brow tail slightly and firm the skin resting on the lid. If your hood comes from a naturally low brow or a full upper lid you have had since your twenties, the change will be modest, and I say that at the consultation rather than after.

How much is an eye lifting treatment in Korea?

At Muse Clinic Myeongdong, Density starts from ₩169,000 and Ulthera Lifting from ₩199,000, both excl. 10% VAT. Olidia Eye for the under-eye hollow starts from ₩290,000 excl. VAT. Eye-specific shot counts and eye tip options sit on each treatment page with every current number, and the list is the same one a Korean patient sees.

How long does an eye lifting treatment last?

For Density the recommended interval is one to two sessions a year, adjusted to your skin type, because the collagen you build gradually turns over. Ultherapy is usually repeated on a similar rhythm. Olidia Eye works differently: collagen begins forming from about four to six weeks and the volume looks more natural with time. Individual results and maintenance periods vary.

Does treatment around the eyes hurt, and is there downtime?

Density feels like deep warmth that builds and eases, with skin cooling between passes. Ultherapy is a series of short, more pointed heat pulses. Both leave little downtime — mild redness, warmth and sometimes tenderness along the brow bone for a day or two. Olidia Eye is an injection, so needle marks, bruising or swelling are possible and settle with time.

Can I fit an eye lifting treatment into a short Seoul trip?

Yes. Ultherapy takes under 30 minutes of treatment time and you leave with a modelling mask and sunblock on. The visible firming arrives after you fly home, over roughly two to three months, so book early in the trip if you want the appointment out of the way. We are open Mon–Fri 10:00–20:00 and Sat–Sun 09:00–15:00.

Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
