How to Check Medical Tourism Clinic License Korea

How to check medical tourism clinic license korea: which registrations to verify, what to ask staff, and how a Seoul visit fits a short trip. Ask on WhatsApp.

Model with clear skin — checking a Seoul clinic's license before booking at Muse Clinic Myeongdong
In this article

If you are searching how to check medical tourism clinic license korea, you have probably already seen the ads: a glossy Seoul clinic, a price that looks too good, and no clinic name you can verify anywhere. The good news is that Korea is unusually easy to check. Clinics here carry a paper trail, and three short questions will tell you whether the place you are about to book is a real licensed medical institution or a marketing page.

I am the head doctor at Muse Clinic Myeongdong, and I cannot verify another clinic for you. What I can do is show you exactly what to look for, what we hand over when a visitor asks, and how a verified first visit fits into a four-day trip. Everything below is something you can check from your phone before you fly.

What a medical tourism clinic license in Korea actually covers

People say "license" as if it is one document. In Korea it is three separate things, and a clinic can hold one and not the others. Knowing which is which is most of the work when you are working out how to check medical tourism clinic license korea from abroad.

  • The medical institution license. The clinic itself is registered as a medical institution with a legal name, an address and a named representative doctor.
  • The doctor's medical license. Each doctor holds a Korean medical license, and specialists hold a separate specialty qualification on top of it.
  • Registration to treat foreign patients. Korea keeps a separate record for a registered clinic for foreign patients in Korea; it is administrative, not a quality score, but a legitimate clinic can tell you its status.
  • A business registration number. Every clinic trades under one, and it can be checked against the national tax authority's public lookup.
  • Posted prices for non-covered treatments. Aesthetic treatments are paid out of pocket in Korea, and the price for each one should be written down somewhere you can read it.

None of this requires Korean. It requires asking, and then noticing whether the answer is a document or a sentence like "don't worry, we are famous".

How to check medical tourism clinic license korea: six checks from your phone

  1. 01Get the legal clinic name, not the brand name. Brands run many branches. Ask which branch you are booking and what that branch's registered name and address are.
  2. 02Ask for the Korean clinic business registration number. Then check that the number is active and the business name matches. Ours is 888-20-00752, representative Sarang Lim.
  3. 03Name the doctor. Ask who consults and who injects, and ask for that doctor's training. A licensed dermatologist in Seoul will have a medical school, a residency and society memberships you can read, as mine are on the doctor page.
  4. 04Ask for the price list, in full. Not "a quote for you". The whole list, every option. If the number you are given is not on a published list, there are two lists.
  5. 05Ask who interprets. Consent that you did not understand is not consent. Ask whether an interpreter is in the clinic or on a phone line.
  6. 06Check the address against a map. A real clinic has a floor, a building, a station exit and opening hours. Ours: 3F, Korea Daeyungak Tower, 97 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5.

What we hand over when a visitor asks to verify us

We would rather answer this before you book than after. Here is the information we give out, and where you can confirm each piece yourself rather than taking my word for it.

If you want the longer version of these checks written as a shopping list, I wrote one for foreigner friendly skin clinics in Seoul, and a practical walkthrough of how to choose a skin clinic in Seoul when you are comparing three tabs at once.

Does a licensed clinic charge foreigners more?

A license says a clinic is legal. It does not say the price you are quoted is the price a Korean patient pays. This is the single most common worry in my consultations with visitors, and the test is easy: ask for the Korean clinic price list for foreigners and see whether it matches the list on the website. One list means one price.

At Muse the list is public, every option and every number, and it is the same list a Korean patient reads at reception. Prices exclude 10% VAT. Event prices run for a limited period and can change, so the treatment page always shows the current number rather than a screenshot from a blog. Two examples visitors book most on a short trip:

Jaw Botox Injectionfrom ₩19,000
  • [Limited to KakaoTalk Friends Exclusive 1-Time Trial] Masseter Botox (Korean-made) 1 Session₩19,000
  • Masseter Muscle Botox 50U₩45,000₩24,000
  • Premium Domestic Masseter Muscle Botox Coretox 50U₩65,000₩49,000
  • V-Line Package₩95,000

SHURINK UNIVERSEfrom ₩41,000
  • [Kakao Plus Friend & Line Friend Limited Offer] Shurink Universe – 100 Shots₩80,000₩41,000
  • Shurink Universe 100 Shots₩80,000₩49,000
  • Shurink Universe 1000 Shots₩700,000₩385,000
  • Shurink Universe 600 shots + AllTite 400 shots₩790,000
  • See all 7 options →

Prices exclude 10% VAT. Event prices run for a limited period and may change — the treatment page shows the current numbers.

If you are costing out a trip, jaw (masseter) Botox and Shurink Universe HIFU lifting are the two I am asked about most, and our Korean botox price guide breaks down what actually moves the final number.

Is it safe to get skin treatment in Korea on a short trip?

The honest answer is that is it safe to get skin treatment in Korea is the wrong question — the country is not the variable, the clinic is. Once you have worked through how to check medical tourism clinic license korea, checked the doctor and read the price list, the remaining safety work happens inside the room: a real consultation, a product box opened in front of you, and a dose you can see measured. Genuine products and correct dosage is our first motto because it is the part a patient can actually watch.

How a verified first visit fits a trip
WhenWhat happens
Before you flyYou message us, get the clinic details, the doctor's name and the price from the list. You tell us your dates.
ArrivalReception on the 3rd floor, one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5. An interpreter meets you there.
ConsultationA structured consultation with the interpreter present. We look at your skin, discuss what suits it, and confirm the price before anything starts.
TreatmentThe head doctor performs the treatment one to one. You see the product and the dose.
AftercareInstructions in your language before you leave, and you can message us from home if something worries you.

Weekends work: we are open Saturday and Sunday 09:00–15:00 and Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00. If you drive, the parking tower in the same building is ₩1,000 per 10 minutes with no base fee, until 18:30 on weekdays and 12:00 on Saturdays. Results and how long they last vary from person to person, and every procedure carries the possibility of side effects — a good clinic says that out loud at the consultation rather than in a footnote.

Red flags I would walk away from

  • No clinic name or address you can map — only a brand account and a chat window.
  • A price that only exists in DMs, with pressure to pay a deposit before you have spoken to a doctor.
  • No answer to "which doctor treats me?", or the answer changes between messages.
  • Consent forms only in Korean, with no interpreter in the room when you sign.
  • A quote that is suddenly different at reception from the one you were sent.
  • A promise of one fixed outcome for every patient. No clinic can promise that, because outcomes differ between people.

Why visitors book with us after they have finished checking

Three things, all checkable rather than claimed. One public price list, identical for Korean and international patients, published in full on the treatments page. Interpreters in the clinic in English, Japanese and Chinese, with other languages arranged on request, staying with you from consultation to aftercare. The head doctor consults and treats — my training, society memberships and advisory roles are listed on the doctor page so you can read them before you arrive, the way you would check any licensed dermatologist in Seoul.

Practically: 3F, Korea Daeyungak Tower, 97 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu — one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5, also close to Hoehyeon Station Exit 7 across from Shinsegae, in the building with a Twosome Place café and Hana Bank at street level. For foreign patients we work through WhatsApp and Instagram rather than the phone, because there is no foreign-language phone support and I would rather you have everything in writing.

Questions people ask

Before you message us

How to check medical tourism clinic license korea before I book?

Ask the clinic three things in writing: its legal clinic name and Korean clinic business registration number, the name and medical license of the doctor who will treat you, and whether it is a registered clinic for foreign patients in Korea. A clinic that holds all three will answer in one message. If the reply dodges any of the three, treat that as your answer.

What is a registered clinic for foreign patients in Korea?

Korean health authorities keep a separate registration for medical institutions that treat international patients, on top of the ordinary clinic license and each doctor's medical license. It is a paperwork status, not a quality ranking, but it tells you the clinic is on the record as treating visitors. Ask the clinic directly and ask which languages its interpreters cover while you are at it.

Is it safe to get skin treatment in Korea as a tourist?

Treatments like injections and lasers are routine here, but safety comes from the specific clinic, not the country. Check the license, check that the doctor who consults is the doctor who treats, and ask to see the product box and the measured dose opened in front of you. Every procedure can have side effects, and results and how long they last vary from person to person.

Can I verify a Korean clinic business registration number myself?

Yes. Every clinic in Korea trades under a business registration number, and the national tax authority publishes a lookup for checking that a number is active and matches the business name. Ours is 888-20-00752, with Sarang Lim as representative. A clinic that will not give you the number on request is the problem you are looking for.

Do licensed clinics in Seoul charge foreigners more?

Nothing stops a clinic from keeping a separate foreigner menu, which is why you should ask for the Korean clinic price list for foreigners and compare it with what is published online. At Muse Clinic Myeongdong one list applies to everyone, every option and number is on our treatments page, and prices exclude 10% VAT.

How long should I keep free in my trip for a first visit?

Plan one unhurried visit. Reception, a structured consultation with an interpreter, then the treatment itself usually fits inside a single appointment for injections and most lasers. We are open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:00–15:00, one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5, so a weekend slot between shopping days is realistic.

Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
