Pico toning is what most patients mean when they message me asking for "clearer, more even skin" before a wedding or a trip. The laser fires in picoseconds — roughly one trillionth of a second per shot — so it shatters melanin with speed rather than cooking the skin around it. On our list, pico laser toning starts from ₩39,000 (excl. 10% VAT) for a first-visit Picosure session with a modelling pack.
This page is the version of the conversation I have in the consultation room: what pico toning realistically clears, how it differs from standard laser toning, how many sessions a course usually takes, and what your visit looks like if you only have three days in Seoul. Every number comes from the published price list — the same list a Korean patient reads.
What pico toning actually clears
The 755nm Picosure wavelength passes through the epidermis into the deeper layer and targets melanin selectively; a 1064nm pico wavelength is used when the pigment sits deeper or the skin is more reactive. Because each pulse is so short, the surrounding tissue takes less of the hit — that is the whole point of a pico device over an older toning laser.
- Melasma — managed and lightened over a course, not erased in one visit
- Freckles, sun spots and general blotchy pigmentation
- Acne scars and uneven texture left behind after breakouts
- Fine wrinkles and skin elasticity, as a secondary effect of the treatment
- Dull, grey-looking skin tone that photographs worse than it looks in the mirror
- Tattoos and eyebrow tattoos, using the same laser at stronger settings
What it does not do: pico toning works on pigment, so it will not flatten a raised mole (that is a CO2 laser job — see our note on mole removal and scarring), and it does not fix the flat red marks left after acne, which are blood vessels rather than melanin. If your main complaint is redness, read post-inflammatory erythema first so you book the right laser.
Pico toning vs laser toning: how I choose between them
Both are toning lasers and both are on our list, which means I can pick the one that suits your skin instead of selling the one device we happen to own. Laser toning uses a Q-switched or ND-YAG pulse measured in nanoseconds; the session runs about 20–30 minutes and normal daily life is possible straight away. Pico toning pulses thousands of times faster, so more of the energy goes into fracturing pigment.
| Pico toning (Picosure / Pico S) | Laser toning (Q-switched / ND-YAG) | |
|---|---|---|
| Pulse length | Picoseconds — about one trillionth of a second | Nanoseconds — longer pulse, more heat delivered |
| Wavelength used | 755nm, or 1064nm for deeper pigment | 1064nm ND-YAG / Q-switched toning |
| I reach for it when | Stubborn pigment, acne scarring and texture together, tattoo work | Overall dull tone, brown acne marks, steady maintenance |
| Session feel | Warm tapping across the treated area | Warm, light snapping; 20–30 minutes |
| Surface recovery | Little downtime; scabbing unlikely on toning settings | Little downtime; daily life possible right away |
| Course | Packages built in 5, 9 and 10 sessions | Every 1–2 weeks, ten or more sessions depending on skin |
In practice the two are not rivals. Our Penta Toning package puts three Picosure passes, an ND-YAG pass and Genesis toning into one sitting with a modelling pack and regenerative LED, because layered wavelengths cover pigment sitting at different depths.

Pico toning price in Seoul: options and what moves the number
Three things change the price. How many handpieces are used: the Simple option is one toning pass, while the Bespoke option runs Simple plus Focus plus Zoom in the same sitting for pigment, texture and scarring together. How many devices: Penta Toning layers Picosure with ND-YAG and Genesis. How many sessions you buy: the 5-, 9- and 10-session packages bring the per-session cost down.

- Picosure Toning(Simple) 1 Session₩49,000

Tattoo removal with the same laser is priced by size and by colour — business-card and A4 size brackets are listed, and coloured ink costs 1.5 times the black-ink price because it takes more passes. Eyebrow tattoo removal is its own line and includes cryo soothing across three sessions.
How many pico toning sessions do you need?
Toning is cumulative. One session gives most people a brighter, smoother-looking face for a few days because of the modelling pack and the mild swelling of fresh treatment; the actual pigment change is what shows up across a course. Results and how long they last vary from person to person, and I would rather set your expectation by the table below than by a photo.
| When | What you notice |
|---|---|
| Right after | Mild warmth and a flush over the treated area; makeup usually the next day. |
| Days 1–5 | Skin looks brighter and feels smoother; darker spots may look slightly more defined before fading. |
| Sessions 3–5 | Freckles and sun spots soften; tone reads more even in photos. |
| After a full course | Pigment is lighter and texture finer. Melasma needs ongoing maintenance and daily sun protection. |
What the visit looks like
- 01Reception on the 3rd floor; an interpreter in English, Japanese or Chinese meets you and stays with you.
- 02Structured consultation, then the head doctor examines the pigment under light and decides the wavelength and settings.
- 03Cleansing, then the laser passes over the treated area — a warm tapping sensation.
- 04Modelling pack, and LED care with the Bespoke and Penta options.
- 05Sunscreen and aftercare instructions before you leave. You can walk straight back into Myeongdong.
Booking is by WhatsApp or Instagram rather than phone, because we do not run foreign-language phone support and I would rather you get a written answer with the exact option name and price than a rushed call.
Side effects and the honest limits of pico toning
Toning is a low-aggression laser, but it is still a medical treatment and every procedure carries the possibility of side effects. You should hear them before you agree, not after.
- Redness and a warm flush for a short period after the session.
- Darker spots temporarily looking sharper before they fade — expected, not a problem.
- Dryness or mild sensitivity for a day or two; go gentle on actives.
- Melasma can rebound with sun, heat or hormonal changes, which is why maintenance matters more than intensity.
- Over-aggressive settings can irritate pigment rather than clear it — the reason the doctor, not a fixed protocol, sets the energy.
Why visitors book pico toning at Muse Clinic Myeongdong
One price list. You pay the same numbers a Korean patient pays; there is no separate foreigner menu, and every option with every price is published on the site. Interpreters on site in English, Japanese and Chinese stay with you from consultation to aftercare. The head doctor plans and performs the treatment — the consultation and the laser are not handed off to different people. You can read my training and advisory work on the doctor page.
Logistics for a trip: we are a one-minute walk from Myeongdong Station Exit 5 on Line 4, also close to Hoehyeon Station Exit 7 across from Shinsegae Department Store, on the 3rd floor of the Korea Daeyungak Tower with a Twosome Place café and Hana Bank at street level. Open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:00–15:00, so a weekend slot between shopping is realistic. Parking in the same building is ₩1,000 per 10 minutes with no base fee.

If you are still deciding between devices, the pico laser toning page lists every option side by side with the standard toning menu, and Muse Clinic Myeongdong keeps the full list of treatments public for exactly that reason.
Questions people ask
Before you message us
What is pico toning?
Pico toning is a pigment laser that fires in picoseconds — each shot lasts about one trillionth of a second. Instead of heating the skin for a long moment, it shatters melanin with a very short pulse, which limits damage to the tissue around it. At Muse we use Picosure at 755nm and a 1064nm pico wavelength, chosen by the doctor according to the pigment being treated.
How much does pico toning cost in Seoul?
At Muse Clinic Myeongdong pico laser toning starts from ₩39,000 (excl. 10% VAT) for a first-visit Picosure toning session with a modelling pack. Single Bespoke sessions, 5- and 10-session packages, the Penta Toning package and tattoo removal are all separate lines on the published list. Event prices run for a limited period, so the treatment page always shows the current number.
How many pico toning sessions do I need?
Toning is a course, not a single visit — that is why the packages are sold in 5, 9 and 10 sessions. Freckles and sun spots often lighten in fewer sittings than melasma, which is a long-term condition managed over months. I set your number and interval after looking at the skin under light at the consultation. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.
What is the difference between pico toning and laser toning?
Laser toning uses a Q-switched or ND-YAG pulse in nanoseconds and takes about 20–30 minutes per session; our guide is one session every 1–2 weeks with at least ten sessions depending on the skin. Pico toning pulses far faster, so more of the energy goes into breaking pigment and less into heating. Our Penta package actually combines both plus Genesis toning in one sitting.
Does pico toning hurt or leave scabs?
Most people describe toning as a warm tapping or a light snapping feeling across the cheeks. Because toning targets pigment deeper in the skin rather than burning the surface, scabbing is unlikely and normal daily activity is possible the same day. Mild redness or a warm flush for a short while afterwards is common and settles on its own.
Can I do pico toning on a short trip to Seoul?
Yes. One session fits easily into a shopping day, and there is no dressing to hide. If you have several days, we can sometimes plan a second sitting, but the interval is decided by how your skin looks, not by your flight. We are one minute from Myeongdong Station Exit 5 and open Saturday and Sunday 09:00–15:00.
Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
