Korean Glass Skin Treatment Side Effects

Korean glass skin treatment side effects, honestly: redness, bumps, bruising, how long each lasts, and what a Seoul clinic visit involves. Ask us on WhatsApp.

In this article

Korean glass skin treatment side effects are what people ask me about on the treatment bed, after they have already booked. I would rather you knew first. Glass skin in a clinic is not one magic injection; it is usually a hyaluronic acid skin booster, sometimes with a skin toxin or a peel, and each of those does something visible to your face for a day or two before it looks the way you wanted.

At Muse Clinic Myeongdong the glass skin route starts with the Lilied M Glass Skin Injection, from ₩159,000 (excl. 10% VAT). Below is the honest list of Korean glass skin treatment side effects, how long each one lasts, how to plan a glass skin treatment in Seoul around a short trip, and who should wait.

What a Korean glass skin treatment actually is

"Glass skin" describes a finish: skin that holds light evenly because it is hydrated, smooth and not flaking. In a clinic that finish is built from two or three different things, not one product. Knowing which part you are getting is the only way to understand which side effects apply to you.

  • Hyaluronic acid skin boosters injected into the skin — Lilied M charges the skin with water and supports collagen in the dermis.
  • Skin vive, a hyaluronic acid preparation injected into the cheeks for skin texture and fine lines.
  • Dermatoxin, a skin botox placed shallowly for pores, fine lines and a tighter surface.
  • Aqua Peeling, which clears sebum, keratin and blackheads so light reflects off a clean surface.
  • Your own aftercare for the week that follows — sunscreen and a plain moisturiser do more than people expect.

If you want the full build rather than the risk list, read our in-clinic plan for how to get Korean glass skin and what happens step by step in a Korean glass skin facial. This page stays on the part those articles only summarise.

Korean glass skin treatment side effects, treatment by treatment

Every injection and every peel carries the possibility of side effects. Most Korean glass skin treatment side effects are temporary and expected rather than a complication. I describe them at the consultation so you are not messaging me at midnight from your hotel.

Glass skin injection side effects (Lilied M, Skin vive)

The common glass skin injection side effects come from the needle and from the product sitting in the skin before it spreads. You may see small raised beads across the cheeks, pink skin, a warm feeling, and sometimes a pinpoint bruise where a tiny vessel was caught. None of that is a sign the treatment went wrong.

  • Raised bumps at the injection points: a few hours to one or two days.
  • Redness and warmth: strongest in the first hours, usually gone by the next morning.
  • Pinpoint bruising: three to seven days, coverable with makeup after about 24 hours.
  • Mild swelling, most noticeable when you wake up the next day.
  • Tenderness when you wash your face or press on the cheeks.
  • Rare: an allergic-type reaction to the product, or infection at an injection site — both need to be seen, not waited out.

Skin botox side effects

Dermatoxin is botulinum toxin placed shallowly in the skin rather than into a big expression muscle, which is why it tightens the surface and refines pores. Because it is still a toxin, a dose that is too heavy or placed too deep can leave expressions feeling stiff for a few weeks. That is the main thing I guard against, and it is why the dose is decided on your face rather than from a menu.

Our own Dermatoxin page notes a feeling of facial tension in the first week or so, and an effect that generally holds around two to three months. If you want the longer version, we wrote about skin botox in Seoul separately.

Peel and aqua peeling side effects

Aqua Peeling uses AHA and BHA to lift keratin and sebum, so the usual after-effects are a flushed face for an hour or two and some dryness or light flaking for a couple of days, especially around the nose. Skin that has just been peeled burns more easily, so sunscreen is not optional on a sightseeing day in Myeongdong.

Three things move the final figure: how much product goes in, whether a toxin or a peel is added in the same visit, and whether a cannula is used instead of a needle for the Skin vive option. A cannula also helps keep bruising down, which matters if you fly home soon. The full list is on the treatments page.

Glass skin injection downtime: planning around a short trip

Most visitors to our clinic have three to five days in Seoul. Glass skin injection downtime is short but it is not zero, so the question is simply which day to book. Most Korean glass skin treatment side effects fade before the flight home, but results and how long they last vary from person to person, and so does how quickly bumps and redness clear.

What to expect after a glass skin booster session
WhenWhat you see
Day 0, first hoursPink skin, small bumps, numbing cream feeling wearing off. Skin already feels hydrated.
Next morningBumps mostly flat. Possible puffiness and the odd bruise. Makeup is usually fine from here.
Days 2–3Redness gone. Skin looks smoother and holds light more evenly.
Weeks 1–2The settled result. This is when I ask people to judge it, and when a second session is normally scheduled.
Months 2–3Hydration generally holds around two to three months depending on your skin and your care, then fades.
  • Book your injection at the start of the trip, not the night before an event or a flight home.
  • Skip the sauna, jjimjilbang, hot yoga and heavy drinking for the rest of that day.
  • Do not rub, massage or roll anything over the treated skin that evening.
  • Keep makeup off the injection points for the rest of the day where you can.
  • Sunscreen every morning, especially after a peel.

Avoiding Korean glass skin treatment side effects: who should wait

The honest answer to "are there risks?" is yes, small ones, and most of them are avoided at the consultation rather than during the injection. The side effects of Korean glass skin treatment get worse when something is injected into skin that was not ready for it.

  • Active infection, inflamed acne or a cold sore in the treatment area — we postpone until it settles.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • A known allergy to hyaluronic acid products or to a previous toxin injection.
  • Blood thinners or a bleeding disorder — say so, and we plan around it.
  • Any injectable treatment elsewhere in the last few months, so the plan accounts for it.
  • Sunburn or a face that has just been lasered somewhere else that week.

If your main concern is texture, acne marks or pigment rather than hydration, a booster is the wrong first tool and I will say so. In that case I would talk about a peel or a laser first. Our guide to skin booster side effects and what each booster is actually for covers the comparison in more depth.

Why visitors book glass skin treatment at Muse Clinic Myeongdong

One price list. There is no separate foreigner menu. The whole list, with every option and every number, is published on the website, excluding 10% VAT.

Interpreters on site in English, Japanese and Chinese stay with you from the consultation through the treatment, so the conversation about Korean glass skin treatment side effects happens in your language. The head doctor plans and performs the treatment one to one after a structured consultation — that is Dr. Sarang Lim, and genuine product with the correct dosage is the clinic's first motto.

Practical details for a short trip: we are a one-minute walk from Myeongdong Station Exit 5 on Line 4, also near Hoehyeon Station Exit 7 across from Shinsegae Department Store, on the 3rd floor of the Korea Daeyungak Tower with a Twosome Place café at street level. Open Monday to Friday 10:00–20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 09:00–15:00, so a weekend slot between shopping is realistic. If you are still comparing, our notes on choosing a skin clinic in Seoul for foreigners list the questions worth asking anywhere.

Questions people ask

Before you message us

What are the most common Korean glass skin treatment side effects?

Small raised bumps at the injection points, redness, a warm feeling, mild swelling and the occasional pinpoint bruise. The bumps are the hyaluronic acid itself sitting in the skin before it settles, and they usually flatten within a day or two. A bruise can take three to seven days. Results and how long they last vary from person to person.

How long do glass skin injection bumps last?

For most people the beads along the cheeks flatten within a few hours to two days, depending on how much product was placed and how fine your skin is. Of all Korean glass skin treatment side effects this is the one visitors panic about most. Sleeping with your head slightly raised and leaving the skin alone helps. If a bump is still obvious after a week, message us and I will look at a photo.

Can I fly home the day after a glass skin treatment?

Usually yes, and many visitors do. The practical issue is not the flight, it is the photos: redness and bumps are at their most visible in the first 24 hours. If you have a wedding, a shoot or a dinner, book three to four days ahead of it rather than the night before. Cabin air is drying, so bring a plain moisturiser.

Does a glass skin injection hurt?

Numbing cream goes on before the treatment, and the needles used for skin boosters are very fine. Most people describe pricking and pressure rather than sharp pain, strongest around the forehead and upper lip. The injection part of a Lilied M session is short. Tell the nurse if you are sensitive and we will leave the cream on longer.

Do foreigners pay more for glass skin treatment in Seoul?

Not with us. You see the same price list a Korean patient sees, published in full on our treatments page, with every option and every number. Prices exclude 10% VAT. Event prices run for a limited period and can change, so the treatment page is always the live version rather than a quote we make up at the desk.

Who should not get a glass skin injection?

If you have an active skin infection, inflamed acne or a cold sore in the area, we postpone until it has settled. Tell me about pregnancy or breastfeeding, blood thinners, a known allergy to hyaluronic acid products, and any injectable treatment you had in the last few months. The doctor decides at the consultation, not the booking form.

Results and maintenance period vary by individual. Every procedure carries the possibility of side effects, which are explained before you agree to treatment. Prices exclude 10% VAT and event prices may change. This article is general information from the clinic and is not a diagnosis; suitability is decided at the consultation.
